Playing for the Lions during coach Jim Frazier’s last four seasons, Young was a two-time honorable mention All-America wide receiver. Young helped the Lions to a 28-11-1 record during his four seasons and Southern finished in the top three of the Central States Intercollegiate Conference each year.

During his career as a three-year letterwinner, Young caught 82 passes for 1674 yards and 11 touchdowns. At the time of his induction, he ranked fifth on the Lions career receiving yardage chart and 10th in receptions, his 20.4 yards per catch continues to stand as an MSSU career record. Young’s best season came as a senior in 1985, when he hauled in 43 receptions for a then-school record 812 yards and six touchdowns.

A two-time, first-team All-District 16 and All-CSIC performer, Young was co-captain of the Lions in 1985.

Young, a native of Dexter, Mo. who graduated in 1986 with a degree in computer science, is currently working as an executive with Wal-Mart. He and his wife, Kim, reside in Bentonville, Ark. They are the parents of two sons.
