Lori (Churchwell) Alburty

The first All-American in Missouri Southern women’s track and field history. Alburty graduated in 1984 with a degree in chemistry. In 1982 she raced to a third place finish in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the NAIA nationals. A former school record holder in the 400-meter hurdles. Alburty was also a former record holder in the outdoor high jump with a mark of five feet, six inches.
At the time of her induction, Alburty was a resident of Joplin and a loyal supporter of all Missouri Southern’s athletic teams.
